Today, we bring to you a delightful treat: Creamy Cajun Shrimp and Andouille Sausage Pasta.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb Andouille sausage, sliced
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 lb pasta of your choice

For the Sauce:

  1. Heat up a pot of well-salted water on high heat for the pasta, and cook according to package instructions. Drain, reserving a cup of pasta water.
  2. While the water is boiling, heat up the olive oil in a pan, and add the sliced Andouille sausage to it. Cook until browned.
  3. Remove the sausage onto a plate, leaving the drippings in the pan. Add the diced onions and minced garlic to the pan, and sauté until fragrant and tender.
  4. Add the sliced, peeled shrimp to the pan, and cook until they turn pink and slightly curled. Remove shrimp onto a plate, leaving the drippings in the pan.
  5. Stir in the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Cook for 1 minute.
  6. Add 1/2 cup chicken broth to the pan, scraping up any bits that are stuck to the pan. Let boil, then reduce to a simmer.
  7. Pour in 1 cup heavy cream, and stir well. Cook on low heat until the sauce thickens.
  8. Add the Andouille sausage and cooked shrimp back to the pan, and stir until well-coated with sauce.
  9. Add the cooked pasta to the pot, and stir until well-coated with sauce. If necessary, add reserved pasta water, a tablespoon at a time, to loosen up the pasta.

Your Creamy Cajun Shrimp and Andouille Sausage Pasta is ready! Serve hot with a generous helping of parmesan cheese and a salad on the side.
