Creamy Cajun Shrimp and Sausage Pasta

Just take a look at those juicy shrimp and spicy sausage, all mixed into one dreamy pasta dish. And the creaminess? Honey, I can’t even describe it. You just gotta try it for yourself!

Creamy Cajun Shrimp and Sausage Pasta

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 pound of smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1 pound of pasta (your choice, but I recommend something like fusilli or penne)
  • 1 red onion, diced
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 1/2 cups of heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup of chicken broth
  • 3 tbsp of cajun seasoning (or more, if you like it spicier!)
  • 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • olive oil

Instructions:

  1. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat up a few tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add in the shrimp and sausage and cook until the shrimp are pink and the sausage is browned. Remove the meat from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Add a bit more olive oil to the skillet, then add in the diced onion, garlic, and bell pepper. Cook until the onion is translucent and the veggies are fragrant.
  4. Stir in the cajun seasoning and cook for an additional minute.
  5. Reduce the heat to low and pour in the heavy cream and chicken broth. Stir until everything is well-combined.
  6. Add the grated Parmesan cheese to the skillet, stirring until it’s melted.
  7. Add the shrimp and sausage back into the skillet and stir until everything is coated in the creamy sauce.
  8. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
  9. Serve the creamy cajun shrimp and sausage sauce over the cooked pasta, and top with extra Parmesan cheese, if desired.
